Jim Ellis is the Forrest Gump of the midwest, as well as a youth worker who founded Awake My Sole, a nonprofit motivational speaking organization operating in Iowa, North Dakota and Colorado.
Jim is a sought after speaker for university, church and leadership events, inspiring all, especially millennials to risk it all for their crazy dreams. Jim connects to audiences in a profoundly stimulating, yet simple way.
In 2012, Jim risked it all by quitting his job, and setting off on a yearlong running, speaking and writing tour of the state of Iowa. Just as Jim took the first step on his Awake My Sole journey, he inspires, challenges and equips his audience to do the same.
Jim is fond of finding creative ways to end homelessness. He helped start the Red Letter Festival, a community initiated festival in Northwest Iowa that raises funds for The Bridge, a nonprofit organization that provides transitional housing for women and children. He aided the efforts of The Welcome Home Program in Sioux City, Iowa, an innovative initiative that combines transitional housing and outreach services to get homeless families off the streets. He also invested extensive time at the Welcome House in Mandan, North Dakota, a nonprofit seeking to end homelessness among families and children.
Jim is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity degree with a concentration in leadership at Denver Seminary in Littleton, Colorado. His wife, Chantalle, and him attend the Wellspring Church of Littleton.
Jim enjoys Chipotle burritos, craft coffee, Bob Dylan on vinyl and long-distance-trail-running.
